Overview

FESA is developing a new Direct Brigade Alarm (DBA) Network Solution following a decision by Telstra to decommission Voice Grade Data Line (VGDL) services in December 2009.

The DBA network uses leased lines, which are a part of VGDL services, to connect building fire alarm systems to FESA’s 000 operational coordination centre.

FESA is working to ensure the new network solution is developed and in place well before the decommission date.

There will be a transition period whilst the new network is implemented, however no service disruptions are expected and there will be no increase to fire risk.

The information on the following pages has been provided to keep building owners/occupiers and the public informed about the project.
