Prepare for bushfires  |   Fire safety in the home  |  Prevent arson attack

EACH year thousands of fires impact on man-made structures, bushland and rural properties in Western Australia.

Career and volunteer firefighters are responsible for responding to most of those fires. In WA during 2005-2006 financial year, 1,350 structural fires and 6,566 bushfires were suppressed by firefighters.

FESA supports:
  • The FESA Fire and Rescue Service – comprising more than 800 career firefighters and nearly 2,000 volunteer firefighters – combats fires in urban areas impacting on man-made structures, bushland, trees, rubbish and the like.
  • Volunteer bush fire brigades established by Western Australia’s local governments – which are responsible for suppressing fires in rural areas in bushland and on agricultural properties. FESA provides the bush fire brigades with training and advisory services.
