&lt;P&gt;To prevent the fire escaping crews are working to strengthen containment lines and will monitor the area for the rest of the day.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;People in the area should continue to: &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Close all doors and windows&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Turn off evaporative air-conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Remain alert in case the situation changes&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;More than 60 career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters from 15 stations have been busy since 2.05pm protecting lives and homes. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;It is estimated around 20 hectares was burnt. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Firefighters have worked hard to get the fire under control and have saved numerous homes and sheds on Fergusson Close. However there has been some damage to fences near Woollcott Avenue and Fergusson Close. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The fire was started by a car fire that was deliberately lit. People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;A number of roads have been closed including:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Youle Dean Road at Lord Street&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Park street at Murray Road&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Woollcott Avenue at West Swan Road&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Further clarification should be sought from WA Police or Main Roads WA on 138 138.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Motorists in the area should take extreme caution when driving through smoke and low visibility and be aware of emergency services personnel who are continuing their work.&lt;/P&gt;
