Flood Fitzroy Valley to continue preparing for floods

People in the Fitzroy Valley region should continue to prepare for the possibility of flooding as the Fitzroy River is expected to rise further.

FESA Volunteer Emergency Service (VES) advises people in the area to:

The Gascoyne River peaked late yesterday afternoon between 6.6 and 6.8 metres at the Gascoyne Bridge on the North West Coastal Highway.

At 7.15 am this morning the level was 5.07 metres. Flooding has been confined to the low lying plantation area and caravan park.

It is now burning between Forrest Avenue and Mounts Bay Road towards the Old Swan Brewery complex. It has also jumped Forrest Avenue and is heading towards Lovekin Avenue.
