FESA - Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia

Legislation

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) of Western Australia was established on 1 January 1999 under the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia Act 1998.

FESA administers the following Acts on behalf of the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Road Safety:

  • Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia Act 1998
  • Fire Brigades Act 1942
  • Bush Fires Act 1954
  • Emergency Services Levy Act 2002
  • Emergency Management Act 2005

Local governments also have responsibilities under the Bush Fires Act 1954 in relation to preventing and responding to bushfires in addition to establishing and running volunteer bush fire brigades.
